Southeast Alaska Pink Reaches 4.5 Million Fish

Statewide cumulative harvest reached 52.3 million fish, 44 percent of ADF&G's 119.9 million-fish commercial-comparable forecast, according to the Blue Sheet. Sockeye (reds), the value driver, stand at 36.2 million fish and 82 percent of their 44.1 million-fish forecast. Southeast Alaska pink (humpies) was the week's largest volume mover, climbing to 4.53 million fish from 616,000 fish the prior stat week.

• Bristol Bay sockeye: 30.0 million fish, 92 percent of ADF&G's 32.9 million-fish forecast on the Blue Sheet.
• Southeast Alaska pink: 4.53 million fish cumulative, up 634.7 percent week over week from 616,000 fish the prior stat week.
• Kodiak: sockeye at 966,000 fish (up from 7,000 the prior stat week), pink at 652,000 fish (up from 9,000) and chum (dogs) at 164,000 fish (up from 66,000).
• Chignik: 1.26 million fish, 77 percent of ADF&G's 1.64 million-fish forecast, with coho (silvers) at 21,000 fish from 3,000 fish the prior stat week.
• AYK: 117,000 fish, 77 percent of its 151,000-fish ADF&G forecast.
• Prince William Sound: 8 percent of forecast, the furthest behind of the districts reported in this digest.

The season is in its August phase, with sockeye tapering and pink and chum carrying the cumulative pace statewide. Enhanced pink harvests at Southeast Alaska and Kodiak are in peak range.
