Pink Salmon Climb Across Kodiak and Southeast Alaska

Statewide commercial salmon harvest reached 49.5 million fish, 41 percent of ADF&G's 119.9-million-fish April forecast, with sockeye (reds) now at 36.2 million fish, 82 percent of their 44.1-million-fish forecast. Pink (humpy) salmon drove the week's biggest moves, with Kodiak pink climbing from 1,000 fish to 652,000 and Southeast Alaska pink from 273,000 to 2.52 million. All figures are from ADF&G's Blue Sheet, preliminary and subject to revision.

• Bristol Bay sockeye: 30.0M fish, 91 percent of the 32.9M fish forecast. The Bay leads all districts on pace.
• Kodiak pink: 652,000 fish, up from 1,000 fish week over week. Kodiak sockeye also moved, from 6,000 to 966,000 fish.
• Southeast Alaska pink: 2.52M fish, up from 273,000 fish the prior week. Enhanced-stock harvests in Southeast and Kodiak typically peak through August.
• Prince William Sound pink: 522,000 fish, up from 99,000 fish the prior week. PWS overall sits at 8 percent of its forecast, the furthest behind of any district in the scoreboard.
• Chignik: 1.22M fish cumulative, 74 percent of the 1.64M fish forecast. Coho (silvers) at Chignik added 18,000 fish, up from 2,000 fish the prior week.
• AYK: 117,000 fish, 77 percent of the 151,000-fish forecast.

August marks the seasonal transition for the fleet: sockeye volume winds down as pink and chum carry the statewide total forward, with Southeast and Kodiak enhanced harvests at or near their peak.
